Here's another well kept 1980 vintage Briks in a classy traditional setting looking perfctly appropriate. They have been back to the factory in 1988 for tweeter upgrades ( Hyquphon ) and Linn updated the internal crossover. ( those were the good days when Briks were supported by the factory ) Martin informed me that the Falcon Acoustics can now provide the KEF B110 as well as Scan D2008 and Hyquphon. They can also supply the PCB boards for the crossover. (It's preferable to match the crossover to the right tweeters.) Overtime, the new cloth grills in wooden frames are fitted to Martin's gorgeous walnut Briks courtesy from Wilmslow Audio and his Sondek has been looked after by renowned Derek Jenkins since 1979.
His newest acquisition is a Paradise Phono built by Mark from former Rubikon fame.
In July 2016, Martin treated himself for Tangerine Audio's Stiletto.
Martin comments: " …I bought the speakers through the Sound Organisation when they were based in Southwark London SE1 a guy was selling them prior to his divorce he purchased them from them I may be mistaken I thought that they were a year old at the time. It was a long time ago 1983 and I used them with a CB Nap 250, SNAPS and 32, within the year the 32 became a 32.5 and bought a Hi-cap that system stayed more or less for 25 years…
… The Kiseki NR Blue cartridge ( the original manufacturer has started producing them again) is a jewel works so well in the ARO so smooth, airy, very low surface noise even greatly reduced by the Karmen top plate.”
2015 has been a busy year for Martin's system. His long time dealer and LP12 specialist Derek Jenkins and Tangerine Audio's Mark Digman have installed their latest Sondek aftermarket subchassis called 'Plateu' in summer of 2015. I know Briks always reward a listener when a source component is upgrade.
Martin comments: " It’s made quite a difference to my set up, bass very much extended and more defined, acoustic guitar very real sounding they way strings are plucked and resonated. All in all a jump in performance for me. ”
