"Blonde On Blonde": Bob Dylan Columbia Records 1966 |
Mark's system: A submission from Down Under. Very clean install with all classic pieces driving a pair of well-kept DMS. Sinead O'connor: Am I Not Not Your Girl? 1992
Mark comments: "My Briks are the older versions. The previous owner sent them back to Scotland for upgrades to the tweeters.
I have had them for 17 years. Started with a 32/160 and now have 32/250. Turntable is a Luxman. The Luxman PD 300 was bought new by me in 1982 and has worked perfectly ever since. It has had a few new belts though. It was $500 cheaper than a linn at the time and was definitely clearer in the treble, and midrange but the bass was less. The arm is a Magnepan from the US. Latest cartridge is an Ortofon Rohmann which is just new. Very detailed, good bass but a little short on treble compared with the old Supex sdx 1000. The 32 and 250 were completely rebuilt by a Naim dealer back to original specs 12 months ago. Latest experiment is the 32 on a pine plinth, sounds better than glass but I am looking for a heavier shelf like the turntable. I cant think of a favourite record at the moment but Sinead O'Connor, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina" gets played a bit. The great thing about the Briks is that nothing sounds bad, even the kids' Black Eyed Peas sounds great if a little heavy in the upper bass. System updates: 11-December
All the stands and other tweaks have been replaced as I have mounted the larger shelves on small brass floating mounts, not solid to the cabinet frame, which has rendered the other shelves not necessary. I really do have a new cd collection as well as new vinyl. There are many many hours of enjoyment ahead. David Gilmour at Gdansk sounds Ok but Bob Dylan Blonde on Blonde can nearly be seen in the living room. I thought that briks could not image. They do now..." |
