Richard's DIY Brik centre speaker is so unusual that I had to look twice to see it was not a camera warp~! Check out the detailed photos of the one-of-a-kind DIY Briks center channel in making. ( just mouse over the coloured dots above )
He's a long time Brik owner since '83 and own two beautiful systems. For pure music, a simple Naim 500 kit is hard to beat.
Note that he's now running FIVE DMS in his cinema room!
Richard comments: "...I owned my first set of briks since 1983, which I sold in 2005 when I brought the 1990 pair for £400.00 on e-bay a bargain. The 1987 cinema units I have owned about two years.
In our cinema we have DVD5, AV2, NAP200, NAP250 and NAP145 in too three 1987 briks, the centre one I striped and rebuilt to fit under screen, this work well for cinema use with all the drivers forward facing. I have left the grill off so you can see the driver layout. I now have a spare barik. The rear speakers are a pair of Linn AV5140, may replace with briks one day.
The original Linn construction is that the isobarik chamber was constructed by as separate unit so that was left intact and fitted as such. The midrange chambers are orange 6" sewage pipe with car under-seal painted inside and out, the same stuff painted on the B139 chassis. The rear plate of the mid chambers is 3/4" ply faced with Formica with metal studs clamping it to the front panel. The cabinet is 3/4'' MDF with 1" x 1" bracing, filled with wool. All very simple but it worked. "
