Johns' system:
Source: Linn Sondek LP12 (EKOS, Akiva ), Marantz 10B
Amplifications: Peerless step up transformer-->Dynaco PAS 3 rebuilt by Michael Fraser--> Harman Kardon Citation II rebuilt by Michael Fraser
It's not everyday that I get a submission with a non-Linn Naim kit behind it. John's system is unique. He use a KT-88 valve power to drive his '85 DMS!
John comments: "...I did have a pair of marantz model 9's for my Briks. The 9's were stock of course and my system sounded very good but the 9's are really not class A amps. The 9's bridge the output tubes to get mono out of each amp.
Michael Fraser, back then built custom tube amps using classic amps as cores. The Citation II has some of the best tube output transformer ever made, even better than the 9's ??
In his Pas 3 mod he changes RIAA signal stage along with a built up power supply. That little ugly preamp sounds like a million dollars when he gets done with it.
Michael Fraser was also a big LP-12 tech and Linn dealer so he built his tube equipment to work well with Linn Speakers. The DMS are 4 ohms and so is the Citation. "
